Story notes: Note: This story is based on a scene near the end of Chapter One of FOTR, "A Long-Expected Party," and some of the dialogue is taken from there. However, I'm also using a few details from the film version, including the characters' estimated film ages to put them closer together--i.e., Merry is about 30 to Frodo's just-turned 33.
