Oooh, I so do hope we are not going to meet with those spiders... But we probably are anyway...
Love the forty-three remark. It brings light to the grim prospects. Nice to have a Dwarf like Gimli on the journey, adds some humour - not to mention safety :)

I find it very interesting how after they had each had sex with Legolas, Haldir's and Haldirriel's love towards each other visibly changes for the good, grows sweeter and deeper. It is as though Legolas is some kind of catalyst for their relationship, and brings balance and meaning to their bond, helps them see how much they truly matter to each other.
It is also nice to see that the two of them have, at least for the time being, got rid of the jealousy issue.

Oh, I do so very hope there is no catch here, and everything is going to be nice and smooth, and like the old times. Everybody wants the other two, so why not, really? Although it seemed to me earlier that it works only when the three are together, but neither of them can stand it when the other two have something of their own. So how can it all work out, if after all Haldir and Haldirriel are spouses and live together, while Legolas, to call things for what they are, is only a visiting friend...?

Why is it I have a bad feeling about everything she does...? First this insecure jealousy to the point of making accusations concerning Galadriel - then all of a sudden she decides to be sensible and resume the 'friendship' with Legolas... Maybe I'm just a terrible cynic, but I do smell a rat here...

I find it very intriguing why Haldirriel permits herself to treat Lord Celeborn with such familiarity and Lady Galadriel with plain disrespect. Although I must add that in any case her conduct is making me rather uneasy, and I have a feeling it bodes no good...

Oh my, I've been so engrossed in all the worry, indignation and curiosity this tale has aroused in me that I have completely forgotten to give the story some rightful credit, instead of just commenting on what the characters are doing. Apologies, apologies.
I do find this a most captivating tale, and the further we go, the more so. At first it gives the impression of a classic love triangle of a somewhat troubled couple and an old flame. But with each new chapter, another layer of intricacy is added and a new conflict introduced, and I already have trouble deciding which line I want to see developed first...
I love how the personality and life-path of each character in unveiled ever so gradually, step by step - yet at the same time there is good energetic pace, something is constantly happening, I cannot relax for a moment.
I also find it very enriching how the sensual area of the characters' life is used to give insight into the nature of their relationships. The lovemaking between Haldir and his namesake tells as much, if not more, about their issues than their actual conversations. I wonder how the texture of their intimate bond is going to evolve as Legolas gets himself further involved - he is going to, isn't he?

Goodness, how complicated everything is... Or is it going to get even more so? I bet it is!
No wonder Haldirriel is so sensitive about Legolas, given he is not just some random threat to her marriage, but also a man she had pretty much raised herself... She had known him as a boy, had seen him growing, had been his older friend and delighted in his development, then for a time had him for a lover - and now all of it is gone down the drain... Well, not entirely all of it, apparently... Which of course makes it all the worse for both of them - for the three of them, actually.
Interesting how Haldir flips right back on his own desires. First he yearns for Legolas, and wishes to be both with him and his wife. Yet when he sees the possibility that Legolas and Haldirriel could manage just fine without him, he forgets all about his liberal views and goes fuming mad. I'm beginning to feel it would be in Legolas' best interests to get out of this mess asap.

Poor girl, so she is even more troubled than what is visible at first. I had thought she had changed her name solely out of adoration for Haldir, but now more reasons come to mind... I wonder, though, why it is only now Haldir is coming to lean of her sorrow, why she had not told him anything, and how come she had managed to keep from letting something slip inadvertently.
Given her current condition, this is definitely not the right time for a rough period in her marriage, either...

You know, I don't like giving people labels, but this time I really have to say it: Haldir is a pig! He screams for someone else in his passion, and then says he cannot apologise, because it's not fault enough to warrant an apology - and right in the next sentence he goes to suggest they actually invite the third party to join them! Marvelous. She is so obviously hurt, and scared, and furious (and rightly so, too) - and all he can think of is getting Legolas back in his bed. Fantastic.

Oh man, I did not like the looks of this from the start. She is lying on the bed naked and splendid, and he comes to her soft? Run, girl, that's a bad sign! Oh, well, his last line rather proves it, although don't I wish it didn't. How humiliating for her, to hear him call out like that while she is doing this kind of service for him...

All right, now I officially feel sorry for everybody in this story. On the surface, of course, there is nothing to warrant the sympathy: a loving couple is having some great time alone, what's to evoke pity here? And yet... I am quite confident Haldir's head is full of thoughts he really ought not to be thinking at the moment. And she... Well, her situation is obviously bad. From the very beginning she has been the one who loved the more, and that's hardly ever an enviable position. Add to it the handsome blond past that has recently returned and apparently refuses to be forgotten. Poor girl, and she has no notion...

Well, well, much as a rule OFCs usually get me wary, this one, I have to say, I'm finding rather intriguing. What woman is she that can physically overpower someone like Haldir? What woman is she that even when Legolas comes back, Haldir chooses her?
Poor Legolas, though, doesn't look like his experience with Aragorn was all roses and sunshine...
