Story notes: Yes, I know that nothing records that Thranduil's elves came to fight the Witch King, but nothing says they didn't, so I'm sticking with them offering soldiers for the war. Just bear with mer30; it is an AU, after all!
This was written for the 2009 Slashy Valentine fic exchange for Naledi_Seren. The request was: I'd like a Mirkwood setting, a tree-top chase, a lightning-strike, an amethyst and a happy ending please, without character death, incest, outright humour (although touches of humour are fine).
